Fleures Botanic & Lounge (2021)
Fleures Botanic & Lounge is a collaborative venture with a local botanical store in Samarahan, Sarawak, Malaysia. The project encompassed full creative direction, spanning branding, interior design, product development, packaging, and photography. Over the course of three to six months, concepts were developed in close dialogue with local markets and communities, weaving together identity, space, and experience.
The design reflects a philosophy of living with plants rather than simply consuming them. A minimalist aesthetic — exposed concrete, solid hardwood, and a neutral palette — provides a calm framework against which the vibrancy of plants takes center stage. This balance of raw material and organic life reframes the store as more than a retail outlet: it is a living environment where plants are encountered as companions.
Functioning as both shop and café, the space fosters community through leisure, conversation, and immersion. Packaging and product design further extend this narrative, creating a seamless brand identity in which nature, design, and daily life converge. By situating contemporary design values within a local Malaysian context, the project positions Fleures Botanic & Lounge as both a commercial venture and a cultural anchor — a space of care, connection, and reimagined belonging.
